What is LNG?

LNG is Liquefied Natural Gas obtained by cooling and condensing natural gas. The product resulting from this process is a mixture of odourless and transparent hydrocarbons.

LNG is maintained in liquid form through cryopreservation at -162°C and stored in cryogenic tanks.

Among the advantages of LNG is its reduced volume compared to gaseous gas (600 times smaller), which allows for easy transport and storage.

Liquefied Methane plants are used for industrial purposes and road transport. LNG overcomes the absence of a city distribution network or pipeline for various utilities and is used in dairy production, agri-food industries, and many other sectors. LNG is also considered an "ECO FUEL" and has been included in development and decarbonisation plans.

First LNG refuelling of a ship completed

We are pleased to announce the first refuelling of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Sicily on the Nerea ship, a significant step forward towards greater sustainability and environmental responsibility in the maritime transport sector. The operation was carried out by Molgas Energia, the European leader in Liquefied Natural Gas and Bianco Petroli’s partner in Italy. This milestone addresses the long-standing challenge of refuelling ships capable of using LNG, as well as the increasingly numerous fleets of lorries converted to LNG.
